In short: orbari.app aims to collect as little data as possible, and to be open about the data it does collect. This page lists every service the site uses, what each one does, and where your data is kept. It covers only this website. The Orbari app is separate: it keeps your records on your device and never sends them to us.

Services this website uses

Domain name (DNS): Cloudflare. Answers when your browser looks up orbari.app. Cloudflare’s privacy policy
Hosting: Cloudflare Workers. Runs the site’s code on Cloudflare’s network, in the data centre nearest to you, and protects the site from attacks. Cloudflare receives the details it needs to deliver each page: your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser details, the page you asked for and the time. It keeps a log of the requests the site’s code handles, and of any errors, for up to 7 days.
Database: Cloudflare D1. Stores bug reports, ideas, roadmap votes and comments.
Spam protection: Cloudflare Turnstile. Checks that a form is sent by a person, not an automated spam program. It loads on the support and roadmap pages, and in the email sign-up box once you select it. Cloudflare Turnstile privacy addendum
Email updates: Resend. Sends the confirmation email and the occasional newsletter, and keeps the mailing list. Resend’s privacy policy
Support email: Cloudflare Email Routing. Forwards messages sent to support@orbari.app to our inbox.
Visit counts: Simple Analytics. Counts visits to the public pages, without cookies. We see only totals, such as pages visited, the websites that linked here, countries, browsers and device types. How your data is stored

What you send through the website’s forms is stored in Cloudflare D1, Cloudflare’s database service. We ask Cloudflare to keep the database in its Oceania region (Australia and New Zealand). Cloudflare encrypts the data while it is stored and while it moves between its servers. Only the site’s own code reads and writes it, and private reports and ideas can be seen only by the site owner.

When we delete something, Cloudflare keeps a recovery history of the database for up to 30 days. After that, the deleted information is gone.

Email addresses for updates are kept by Resend, in the United States, and only after you confirm them, with the products whose news you chose and the site you signed up on. Simple Analytics keeps visit counts in the European Union.

The privacy policy lists what the website keeps and for how long.

Cookies and browser storage

The site sets one cookie (a small file your browser keeps) of its own, called orbari_feedback_voter. It is set only when you vote or comment on the roadmap. It holds a random code so the site can count one vote per browser, and it lasts up to one year.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s storage as orbari-theme. It is never sent to us.

While you fill in a bug report or an idea, your unsent text is kept in your browser’s storage for that tab, under a name starting with orbari-draft:. It is removed when you send the form or close the tab, and it reaches us only if you send the form.

The site’s code can also keep one short note in your browser’s storage for the current tab, called __vinext_hard_navigation_target__ when a page has to load in full instead of updating in place, or __vinext_rsc_initial_reload__ when a page has to reload after an error. It holds the address of that page on this site, so the page can’t get stuck reloading. It is removed as soon as the page has loaded, and it is never sent to us.

What is not on this site

orbari.app has no advertising and no social media tracking buttons. It has no advertising pixels, which are tiny hidden images that report your visit to advertisers. It has no trackers that follow you to other websites. Apart from its own files, the site loads only Simple Analytics and Cloudflare Turnstile.

JavaScript is the code that makes pages interactive. If it is turned off in your browser, Simple Analytics counts the visit with a tiny image instead of its script.

The Orbari app

None of these services see the records in the app. The app’s one-time unlock is sold through Apple’s App Store, and you can choose to keep the app’s Markdown copies in iCloud Drive; Apple handles both under Apple’s privacy policy.
